” To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honours.” – Tia Walker

In August 1986, a group of Stilbaai residents started discussions to address the growing need for basic health and nutrition services for the elderly (about 50 at that time). Today, almost 40 years later, Jagersbosch is a lifeline for more than 1,230 senior citizens in Stilbaai, Melkhoutfontein, and Jongensfontein by providing essential health, nutrition, emotional, and social services.
Jagersbosch Community Care Centre is driven by a simple, yet profound mission: to enable the elderly in our communities to live in their own homes for as long as possible, with dignity and independence.
The heart of our operations is the Jagersbosch homestead, a restored historic building dating back to the 1860s. From this venue, Jagersbosch delivers a variety of services, including meal provision, basic healthcare (such as blood pressure monitoring and wound care), home care for people with limited mobility, a 24-hour emergency number, and the rental of medical equipment such as wheelchairs and crutches.
Jagersbosch’s work is guided by the principle of Ubuntu—humanity toward others—which emphasizes the interconnectedness of humanity. Every day, Jagersbosch strives to empower and protect the elderly and people with disabilities, while promoting their wellbeing, safety, and dignity as outlined in the Older Persons Act (Act No. 13 of 2006).
